Derrick J. Guidry was born June 20, 1986, and started his musical training a mere 5 years later. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana he grew up listening to R&B, Disco, Jazz and Funk along with heaps of Zydeco. Being the son of a well-known and respected Zydeco and Blues guitarist, Derrick's first instrument of choice was drums, and still is. Attempts to learn to play piano failed to inspire the youth, however, he proved to be a natural on the washboard. He has contributed to the Zydeco Boneshakers in that capacity since the group's formation. In addition to his first love, music, he also harbors passions for football, basketball and hockey.
