I'm called Miss Ann Goodly, the Queen of Zydeco and Zydeco Gospel. "Queen Ann" for short. I was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Nov 28th 1971 and started playing music at the age of 8. Born with the gift of Jesus to perform Gospel, I ended up playing and singing worldly music more. I grew up playing with and around a lot of 'old-timers' and now consider that to have been a real blessing! I guess it was because I didn't have any idea at the time that I was going to be the Mother and Queen of it, especially at such a young age. I played around musicians like Boozoo Chavis, "Clifton Chenier - the King of Zydeco", John Delophose, Rockin Doopsie, and Rockin Sydney. Rockin Sidney produced and coached me a whole lot on studio and management. He produced my first 45 and first album, the self-titled release "Miss Ann Goodly". My grandfather, Papa Paul Goodly from Mamou, LA and the late great Marcel Dugas had a gift for managing entertainment, specifically Zydeco entertainment. I got my first band at the age of 12 and started playing in clubs not long afterwards. Thanks to my mother and father, Mr and Mrs Davis Goodly, my career was launched. They put up the money to get me going and my father promoted me until I was 20 years old. I joined my second band at the age of 15 and cut my second song with the Zydeco Brothers Band. I was originally called "Lil Ann", "Princess Ann", now am called "Queen Ann"! Thank you Jesus! I have traveled all over the United States, including California, Seattle, Arkansas, Maryland, Florida, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Nevada. I have also traveled extensively in Europe, including Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France. For over 6 years now, I have been working for Mr. Cullen Washington with the Zydeco Boneshakers band.
